About FELIZA

Hello, welcome  - I'm Mel.

FELIZA (feh-LEE-sah) is named after my Lola, my grandmother from the Philippines.

She was a farmer in Alaminos, Laguna, her husband died leaving her to raise their eight children on her own while continuing to work the land. She didn't complain, was practical, resourceful and someone who just got on with things.

I am one of her eighteen grandchildren. Naming FELIZA after her felt like a lovely way to keep a little of her with me as I started something on my own.

The Veil Hat began with an everyday frustration: I love being outside, but the constant swatting of flies gets old pretty quickly. I wanted a hat I loved wearing, with a fly veil that was always there, ready to protect my face and neck.

That's where I am starting. Creating useful things that solve a small problem, look lovely and get plenty of wear.
